Here starts another year. I'll start is off wishing everyone who might read this a year filled with prosper and health.
So what am I looking forward to this year; one thing's for sure. Summer. The wonderful sun, the lack of acedemics, but most significantly the absence of stress. Total relaxation.
I'm also looking forward to going back to uni in a couple of weeks; being able to see some friends again, a fresh start to the term. Terms always start off quite well with a sense of renewal and frsh determination. But all this seem to die off by week 6; luckily for us Cambridge terms only last 8 weeks, the last couple of weeks being a battle to keep the mind focused and willing to work. Perhaps this is just me and not the typical case.
Events of notice (to me) in 2006, most of these quite recent:
Casino Royale - an absolutely awesome movie, purely driven by plotline, dialogue, and Bond.
The Prestige - suprisingly I was even more impressed with this movie than with Casino Royle.
The execution of Saddam Hussain - I don't really keep up with the news very much, but that morning I opened the browser and went onto Yahoo! and was shocked!
I purchased a diary - having never organised my time on paper before this was quite a significant step for me. I thought it might be a good way to help with my discipline if I wrote down what I had to do and by when. I wrote in it today the deadlines of my CATAM projects and the birthdays of friends and family. It's not that I can't remember these things; but I think it'll make me more prepared for these events to come. Hope it works.
Results of Year 1 - I didn't do well. The senior tutor wanted a meeting with me to discuss the reasons behind it and what could be done to improve. It felt like getting told off at school, like being a child again. Hopefully this year I will do better, it's not looking too bad at them moment.
Celebrity Love Island - due to the continuous crying of one supermodel Sophie Anderton.
Happy New Year!
